The livescribe comes with stereo recording headphones so if you wear them or hang them around your neck each picks up sound from a different angle. I really haven't needed to use these yet because the pen seems to pick up all that I require. I think the stereo recording becomes a big deal when you are in environments with a good amount of background noise. Have you looked into backing up live scribe files using tools other than the included web upload. That would be the only other complaint I have.
